WINDING UP NAG
GENERAL MEETING
NAG WINDING UP
Last night at our special general meeting (required by the Office of Fair Trading), the members present voted to wind up Newport Action Group and to disburse unallocated funds to a local charity, The Breakfast Club Redcliffe.

The committee would like to thank our 1500 members for their support over the past 6 years, and we are grateful that NAG is leaving a legacy of strong connections within the Newport community.

The Newport Waterways Property Owners’ Association (NWPOA) will continue to represent the Newport community through the Newport Waterways Advisory Group (NWAG) meetings with Council.  The substantial amount of research and intellectual property collected regarding the revetment walls will be retained for future use.

REVETMENT WALL CONTRIBUTIONS
This is a final reminder if you contributed to NAG’s revetment wall fighting fund in April or May 2023, to please elect to either have your contribution refunded to you or consolidated into the NAG donation to The Breakfast Club.  Please advise us at info@newportactiongroup.com.au of your intentions.  For refunds, please send us your BSB, account number and account name (these details will be deleted after the refund is made).

Revetment wall funds not refunded by 5pm on 10 April, will be consolidated (for donation) as required by the Office of Fair Trading for an incorporated organisation.

If you are unsure if you contributed to the revetment wall action (or you contributed cash at the 2023 meeting), please send an email to info@newportactiongroup.com.au as we have records of all contributions. (Contributions for other legal causes have been fully expended for those purposes).

FACEBOOK AND WEBSITE
The NAG Facebook page, email and website will be decommissioned by 10 April 2024.

The key historical and general posts from the NAG Facebook page will be available on a new closed group called Newport (QLD) Owners and Lovers – and History.

It will also provide another means for the community to stay in touch with one another.

If you are interested in joining this group, please go to Newport (QLD) Owners and Lovers – and History | Facebook.

Kind regards,

Morgan Grant

About NAG

Newport is unique because of its beautiful bayside surrounds and its warm and cohesive community. Residents and visitors connect and identify with its special character.

Newport Action Group (NAG) is not against development. It is against inappropriate development that erodes or is inconsistent with Newport’s character and environmental amenity.

NAG has been formed as a grass-roots response to a concern that Council may endorse the sacrificing of a unique neighbourhood in the name of ‘progress’.

Our Objectives

  • To conserve the Character of Newport;
  • To protect the amenity of the environment of Newport;
  • To represent a community voice in relationship to local government decision making; and
  • To monitor and evaluate major development proposals.
